"Speak of Forever," by Stephanie Reis :: 23 December 04

The infinities of every second
Breathe life into nonexistence.
If we went to the bottom
Could we rise again?
And what if we tunneled like maggots
On the whiskers of rabbits
And what if life was not alive?
What then?

All I can say is the pledge of alleigence
To a country that brainwashes minds…
Is it bad to prefer a little unobvious
Dirt on the inside?
And how do you go about cleaning the walls
Of a prison of dirt; under the rug?
Or another day by just okay
Another day’s goodbye.

Scream to the song and another thing wrong
I can’t see what it is.
Say that word again, please
So I can see it under skin
And breathe that breath again, so
I can taste the life within…

You hide in a basement from
The thing that creeps under your bed.
Wasted a best friend’s Julliard letter
And forgot to call your closeeeest lover.
You say you love him so say it again
Uh oh, your words are so painfully thin.
Say it again.
