Neon And The Gemini Dream Fish

art

A self portrait.Let me explain…Neon is a character of mine who nearly always wears a top hat and ankh earrings. I am a gemini and my last name is Fish. I have always been obsessed with stars and the sky. Acrylics on canvas. Damn my digital camera, damn it and its nefarious painting ruining ways.

Johnny Depp

Art

One of my moments of fangirl-ishness. Forgive me. At least I didn’t draw him as a pirate. This actually came out really well and is still one of my favorites after a few months of staring at it. (Normally I begin to hate my art after a while.) This was done in sharpie markers in my sketchbook.

And You

Art

This is from a photo session I had with Jimmi Bayer for my photography final. All the pictures actually came out pretty cool (one of them was used for last months cover!). This is called a negative sandwich – it is where two different negatives are developed on the same sheet of paper. It ended up looking pretty cool, if I do say so myself.

Long Ride

Art

Candid photos are my favorite kind to take. This one was taken of my brother on a car ride down to Ocala to visit our grandparents. I love the lighting and the slightly grungy look of this photo – like it is a lot older than it is.

Feminine Masculinity

art

Another sharpie drawing from my sketchbook. I love androgynous figures, blurring the line between feminine and masculine (which I don’t think was ever that clear in the first place).

Cigarette Break on the Stairway to Heaven

Art

This is a portrait of my boyfriend done in sharpie markers on a 14×17inch sheet of drawing paper. Bigger than I usually work in because it was a gift for him. I almost didn’t give it to him because I liked it so much. The wings were probably the hardest part to draw.
